Pinterest announced on the Pinterest for Business blog that it will be introducing the Pin It button to Tumblr, Blogger, WordPress.org and Wix. The Pin It button is used to share posts on Pinterest with a single click just like the Tweet or Like buttons.
Pinterest has provided the following instructions to add the button on each platform:
- Tumblr: You can now add the Pin It button to your Tumblr blog by adding a JavaScript line. Go to “Customize,” then “Edit HTML.” Check to see if your code has “pinit.js” in it. If not, visit the Pinterest Help section to get the code.
- Blogger: One of the default sharing buttons on Blogger, the Pin It button will automatically select the first image in the post, set the description to the format: “Blog title: blog post title” and will set the URL to the permalink of the blog post.
- WordPress.org: You can add the hovering Pin It button to your WordPress.org blog by installing a plugin. The plugin enables a Pin It button over all the images that are at least 120×120.
- Wix: The Pin It button will create a pin based on the image and description specified by you and when you click on the button it will link back to the page of the site you are on.
Pinterest claims in the blog post that the introduction of the Pin It button specific to each platform will make it easier to add the button to your website. However, you can still add a Pin It button in the way you used to do earlier by using Pinterest’s widget builder and manually adding it to your site. You can also visit the Pinterest Help Center for more detailed instructions.
