Pinterest is broadening its shopping capabilities by upgrading its existing features and adding new shopping tabs. Pinterest is coming up with new ways to shop from pins, on pinboards as well as search results. The details of all new features which were announced today are mentioned below.
Latest Shopping Features of Pinterest
Shop From Boards
Users will now come across a ‘Shop’ tab on their boards.
For instance, users can have a look at their fashion board, click on the Shop tab available there, browse through all the products available on the board. ‘’Just as if a shopping list has been created for their boards’’, Pinterest states. This feature is in sync with fashion and home décor products. Pinterest has also mentioned that it will display just in-stock products.
Shop From Search Results
A new ‘Shop’ tab will now be visible in Pinterest’s search results. Users will now find it easier to buy in-stock products when looking for terms such as ‘’office décor’’, ‘’kitchen remodel’’, or ‘’ spring outfits’’. Users who are searching for anything more specific will now have an option to filter search results by brand. A new filter has also been added which will enable users to sort search results by price.
Shop From Pins
Pinterest’s visual search feature now includes shopping capabilities. Visual search enables users to search for products by either uploading an image or clicking a picture. Pinterest will put in its best efforts to return pins with that product. While performing a visual search, users will come across a new option to ‘’shop similar’’. Once you click on this option, you will be able to view related in-stock products related to fashion and home décor.
Shopping From Anywhere on Pinterest
By incorporating these new features, Pinterest is reinventing itself as a social network for shopping-a place where users can buy any product they come across on screen. This is something Pinterest is making users aware of. There is now an indirect call-to-action inviting users to shop on almost every screen which they are likely to come across.
Be it search results, their pinboards or inside shoppable pins across the network. That’s not only more beneficial for users, who often come to Pinterest intending to buy something but for retailers also. Businesses irrespective of all sizes can benefit from such updates, as 97% of top searches on Pinterest are unbranded.
Pinterest’s data reveals that users mainly search for generic terms rather than specific brands. As Pinterest has stated, they are “leveling the playing field for businesses of all sizes to be discovered.”
Trending Shopping Searches on Pinterest
The new updates are being made at a time when most people are staying at home and spending most of their time on mobile phones. Pinterest has mentioned that searches for shopping inspiration and helping small businesses are rising. Over the last two weeks, searches for ‘’help small businesses’’ have gone up three times in comparison to two prior weeks.
Many people are searching for ways to establish work-from-home spaces of their own and makeshift offices. Searches for ‘’home office setup’’ have gone up by 70%. Employers are searching for ways to reward their employees and give them recognition during this crisis. There has been 4xincrease in searches for ‘’employee gift’’ in the past two weeks. Searches related to ‘’care package ideas’’ have been doubled.
