Facebook has launched Stories Ads on Facebook thereby making ad units available to advertisers all over the world. Facebook first brought ads within Instagram Stories in January 2017 and started testing Facebook Stories Ads in May. In the early part of this month, Facebook alerted its Marketing Partner Network to the coming ad units and asked ad management platforms in order to set Stories Ads on Facebook as a default opt-in.

Facebook has updated its full-screen mobile ad type with new features. These “Canvas” ads have been renamed as “Instant Experience” ads. This ad type was launched in 2016 to offer an experience of immersive advertising which expands to fill the screen on being clicked. Apart from the new name, Google has also added a new template option, making it convenient for people to share their contact details with a business. Facebook is executing new requirements for individuals who manage pages which have a large US-based audience. From now on, people managing these pages will have to undergo an authorization process before they can continue making posts. By doing so, Facebook intends to make it more difficult for individuals with a fake or compromised account to administer a page. Authorization will ask people managing such pages to secure their account with a two-factor authentification. They will also need to affirm their primary country location.

Pinterest is rolling out wide-format Promoted Videos for all advertisers through its self-serve Ads Manager tool. The ad units are four times larger than the normal videos on the app, spanning across Pinterest’s two column grid, and are available in 16:9 as well as 1:1 aspect ratios.

In May this year, Pinterest launched a beta test of the max-width Promoted videos to a number of brands like American Express, Adidas, Kohl’s, Tropicana, Paramount Pictures, and Chevrolet. Since then, it has collected data from a Millward Brown report which confirms that advertisers using wider videos are witnessing lifts in brand awareness and eagerness to purchase.

Facebook Upgrades Ad Manager App With Latest Creative Tools

Facebook has recently updated the Ads Manager app with a new range of creative tools, enabling advertisers to create ad content from their mobiles. Launched in 2015, the Ads Manager app is a mobile solution for developing and monitoring ads. Till now, image-based content for Facebook ads needed to be developed outside the Ads Manager app. Advertisers would then need to save the image on their mobiles and upload it on the Ads Manager.
