Google has rolled out its annual ‘Year in Search’ report, listing out the topmost search queries made in the year 2017, across 15 different categories such as people, consumer tech, global news, and elections.

A pattern of ‘how to’ queries was also observed. Some of the most popular ‘how to’ searches were searched for more than 10 times than ever before.

As per Google’s Search in Year report, the top 10 ‘how to’ searches are:

  3. How to buy Bitcoin
  4. How to watch Mayweather vs McGregor
  5. How to make a fidget spinner
  6. How to watch the solar eclipse
  7. How to freeze your credit
  8. How to play Powerball
  9. How to screen record
  10. How to lose belly fat fast

The overall top searches made in 2017 worldwide are:

  1. Hurricane Irma
  2. iPhone 8
  3. iPhone X
  4. Matt Lauer
  5. Meghan Markle
  6. 13 Reasons Why
  7. Tom Petty
  8. Fidget Spinner
  9. Chester Bennington
  10. India National Cricket Team

Lastly, below are listed the top queries in individual category:

  • Person: Matt Lauer

The list is created using the data of 2017 and 2016. It is based on hike in traffic for a particular search in this year as compared to the previous one.
